Delivery and customer care basics

The sale is not finished when the customer pays. It is finished when they receive their order and feel happy with it. Good delivery and customer care turn one-time buyers into repeat customers.

Pack with care

Use packaging that protects the product and looks neat. Fragile items need padding. A small thank-you note or card is a simple touch that customers remember.

Be clear about delivery

Tell customers how long delivery usually takes, how much it costs and how they will receive the order. When you send an order, let them know and share any tracking or rider details.

Choose reliable delivery partners

Whether you use a dispatch rider or a courier company, reliability matters more than the lowest price. Late or damaged deliveries hurt your reputation, even when they are not your fault.

Follow up after delivery

Send a short message to check the order arrived safely and the customer is happy. This is also a good moment to ask for a review.

Handle complaints well

  • Listen and thank the customer for telling you
  • Apologise for the problem, even if it was not your fault
  • Offer a clear solution, such as a replacement, refund or fix
  • Act quickly and keep your promise

Have a simple return policy

Decide when you accept returns or exchanges, and share the policy before customers buy. Clear rules build trust and make difficult conversations easier.

Remember your customers

Keep a simple list of past customers and what they bought. Let them know about new products or offers. People who already trust you are the easiest people to sell to again.
